Yesterday, I rode a piece of my planned 80 mile ride around Smith Mtn. Lake. The first 12 miles of the route is on the Smith Mtn. Ride. After 12 miles, I turned off the mapped route and let the GPS auto-route me back home. The last 13 miles is how it routed me back. Not sure why it decided it was better to go an extra mile and then have to ride on busy Rt. 24, but I wanted to test the funcionality of the GPS. I created a map on RideWithGPS.com for the 80 mile route and exported it with turn by turn settings and it worked pretty well. I hope to try the full ride out later this week or early next week. Fifty seven miles is my longest ride so far, so it’ll be a stretch. I joined a Strava challenge requiring an 80 mile ride in a single day.
These are all taken while riding on Mill Iron Road.
