Today, I didn’t get on the rode until about 9:30. Jen, Andy and I had a leisurely breakfast and yakked a while. I was thinking it was going to be a pretty short day, but it ended up being 66.3 miles. I got in Palatka around 6 and had dinner and a couple of beers at the restaurant located in the Quality Inn. Tomorrow should be my last day of riding! Here’s the map from today and some pictures:
Going into Gainesville. Lots of rollers.
Yeah, that’s right. 106.3 degrees. It felt it too. I used one water bottle to dump on my head to cool me down. Stopped soon after this and had a late lunch and waited for the 2:00 to 4:00 hot band to pass. When I resumed, it was only 91.
Ran across another really nice bike trail after lunch too. It helped with the heat. A lot of the trail was covered by shade trees.
Here’s a couple of views of the St. Johns River from the hotel.
Tomorrow is St. Augustine!

The end is near.I will miss your adventures soon as I get up in the am.I’m still lusting for the oysters horseradish and cavier.
Yeah, it’s been a good trip. And I think the oysters were my favorite meal of the trip!
Glad you got there safely. We really enjoyed your visit. And I am really going to miss your adventures. Andy said he now wants to hike the AT. Oh goodness… look what you’ve started!
Yeah, the AT would be cool. That’s a long way. A lot folks hike portions of it at a time each year on their vacations. If you do it straight through, it takes from March to September!
