Newberry to Palatka. The penultimate ride.

Today, I didn’t get on the rode until about 9:30. Jen, Andy and I had a leisurely breakfast and yakked a while. I was thinking it was going to be a pretty short day, but it ended up being 66.3 miles. I got in Palatka around 6 and had dinner and a couple of beers at the restaurant located in the Quality Inn. Tomorrow should be my last day of riding! Here’s the map from today and some pictures:

Going into Gainesville. Lots of rollers.IMG_4477 IMG_4480 IMG_4481 Yeah, that’s right. 106.3 degrees. It felt it too. I used one water bottle to dump on my head to cool me down. Stopped soon after this and had a late lunch and waited for the 2:00 to 4:00 hot band to pass. When I resumed, it was only 91.IMG_4482 Ran across another really nice bike trail after lunch too. It helped with the heat. A lot of the trail was covered by shade trees.IMG_4483 IMG_4484 IMG_4485 IMG_4487 IMG_4488 IMG_4489 Here’s a couple of views of the St. Johns River from the hotel.IMG_4492 IMG_4494
